Let the sunshine; Let the sunshine in!
I raced to "The Illuminated Mural" just as the sun was setting. This mural was created in late 2009 on an abandoned building in Detroit. This beautifully decorated building is no longer abandoned; it is now a studio for several local artists.

Shattered!
This past weekend a friend and I took a photography class to further understand the functions on our camera. The class was fantastic! Our instructor Asia was extremely knowledgeable, fun and creative.
If you own a DSLR camera and want to know how to use it, check out Asia's class, http://www.nozomilive.com/#!__page-0/digital-photo-classes

Ode to Detroit Part 3
There were surprises all over Belle Isle just as there are all over the city. From the finish line from when they used to race cars there to the abandoned building... cover your eyes Mom... I went into to get some shots of local artists graffiti, there was something new and different everywhere I looked.
There is only one part left to my Detroit photography project. I hope that these photos have inspired some of you to head down to the city soon and revisit some of the places you used to go as a child or adult. I'm quite sure you'll be happy you did!

Ode to Detroit, Part 1
Saturday morning we went to Belle Isle for a change of scenery. I was totally expecting it to be completely creepy and deserted - maybe because of what you hear on the news in Detroit. There were actually a lot of people there running, bike riding, and families visiting the free Observatory and Nature Zoo. Belle Isle is only slightly broken, but to me it symbolizes the city itself. No matter what is thrown at it; it will always stand. Our trip that day was so inspiring that I've broken this up into four parts. Check back in a few days for the next installment.
PS: Thanks to those of you who voted for the sewer cover on The Free Press' Detroit Self Portrait. It's currently #33 out of over 1,000 photographs! http://www.freep.com/portrait/?d=view&id=1068
