Happy Thanksgiving

This year, we decided to stay home and make our own new traditions.  Not sure how many traditions we made exactly with all of the newborn chaos, but we definitely had fun.  I made my traditional Thanksgiving feast; Turkey, homemade stuffing- secret family recipe, green bean casserole for two recipe from Pintrest (Pintrest fail... sometimes you can't keep cutting recipes down to make just two servings.  Totally compromised the dish), mashed potatoes, gravy, Hawaiian rolls and cranberry sauce which I forgot to put out on the table until we were done.  Whoops.  Oh and I made those awesome salted carmel chocolate chip cookies from the diaper party.  Yum!  Stella did great watching me cook from her high chair that I placed in the kitchen...

Until Dinner...

I think she was just mad she couldn't partake in all of the yumminess.  I would be too!  Sooooooo...

She helped me eat :)  Happy Thanksgiving everyone and let the holiday festivities BEGIN!

What a difference a year makes

It's crazy that just a year ago, I started this photo blog with a post from my first official family Thanksgiving as a married woman and as me as the chef.  Time flies and my how do things change in just a year.  Over the past year, my life has changed in so many amazing ways.  And looking back at those first posts, so has my photography.  Some of those posts from the beginning are a bit difficult to look at now!  Although my posts have been few and far between these days (this little one has a 6th sense; once I go to take a few shots, she wakes up crying), my passion for photography has only grown more and more.

Work it

I came home from out pediatrician's appointment to find Barkley working it in the studio.  I had it set up still from my shoot with Stella the other day and apparently he was ready for his turn...or just found a comfy spot for a nap.

How Wonderful Life is, Now You're in the World

Here she is: Stella Evelyn Schmidt.  I thought I would post something as I go through the 200 photos taken while in the hospital (most of which were not done by me, but by Brandon since I was confined to the hospital bed for days due to the c-section).

The title of this post is a shout out to Sir Elton John.  Thank you for your music as it saved Stella from her missing paci meltdown this morning.

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

No, not that time!  October!  Fall is by far my favorite season.  Hoodie & jean weather, fires in the fireplace, cider & donuts (even though I couldn't have any cider), college football, halloween, wedding anniversary and now a baby!  

This past weekend, Brandon got me out of the house and we visited the Plymouth Orchards.  Brandon's rule is we can't go until it's colder.  If it was up to me, we would have been there the day they opened :)  They don't pasteurize their cider there, so I could not partake in that.  I did however devour quite a few cinnamon sugar donuts (my fav).  Maybe we can go back once this little one arrives.  10 more days...

This is Halloween!

 

I know it's a bit early for Halloween, but with 2 weeks away from my due date, I know I won't have any other time to decorate!

Crocheting & Protein Shakes

Friday, at my doctor's appointment I was put on moderate bed rest.  Meaning, I don't have to live in my bed but do have to have my feet up "most of the time".  Brandon has been an excellent protective father to be, looking up healthy foods online (he read that a protein shake every morning is supposed to help with pre-eclampsia) & corralling me back to bed (although I have given him quite the hard time and even nicknamed him after some of the most famous dictators our world has ever seen).  To help bid my time, I have my Netflix queue set up, a bunch of books I have been meaning to get to, scrap booking and I even taught myself to crochet yesterday.  Yup, I jumped from Mom to Grandma in a matter of days.  Yup, that's my life now, crocheting & protein shakes.  

New Dad Training

Saturday was Brandon's Diaper Party & kick off of U of M's football season.  At least one of the two occasions had a happy ending :)  

The pics are just food because I left so it could be just the guys, only to make a brief appearance later to refill the food and collect some hugs from my favorite guys.  We had a Coney Dog & Chili Bar with Brandon's famous chili recipe, Brandon's Mom's special spinach dip and my new favorite cookies - Salted carmel, pretzel & chocolate chip (Thank you Pintrest!  Yum!)

The party was perfect with his closest friends (some of which are Dads themselves) and family (which included not only Dads but two of which were Grandads), good food and the first weekend of college football.  Unfortunately, Michigan played a terrible game... better luck next week ;)

Even Barkley got into the mood!

Thank you to everyone who made it out last night!  I know Brandon was so happy to see everyone and it really meant a lot to me that everyone is as excited about our little girl as we are.  xo, E

Hiatus

Sorry for the hiatus!  As I get closer to the due date, I'm moving slower and slower.  

Last week marked 5 years of me being a non-smoker.  Brandon, working in the substance abuse field, loves to make a huge deal out of it every year because although I can't even imagine myself a smoker anymore, he believes it is very important to celebrate these milestones.  Usually we go out to a ridiculously expensive dinner but this year I asked him to make me dinner.  He made all of my favorites; caprese salad, filet mignon, crab legs and twice baked potato.  And to top it all off, he finished fixing the nursery closet!  I'm quite a lucky lady.

Showered With Love

Sorry for the delay!  This week has been crazy.  7 weeks and counting and I feel like I have a million things I still need to do!  Sunday was our Michigan shower in Plymouth.  Since there are not many women on the Kenney side, I told my Mom I would handle decorations.  Little did she know, I had planned on decorating everything in pink and surprising everyone with the news that we are having a girl!  It was so great to have to many of my loved ones in one room!
