Exploring Detroit

Last weekend we had some friends in town from Columbus.  We caught the M83 show and of course we had to take them to Slow's.  After lunch we wandered around the city a bit...

Shannon & Matt {wedding}

About a month ago I was able to follow the amazing Caitlin Maloney on her first wedding of the season.  Here are the images I captured at my first wedding shoot.  Enjoy!

It's a...

BABY!  Haha!
I know, that's the exact same response I had yesterday at the doctor's office.  Stubborn Baby Schmidt decided not to flash his/her stuff to the camera, leaving us with yet another month of wondering.

Though we've decided to keep the sex of our little nugget a secret from our friends and family as a special surprise for them for when we get closer to the due date, we were still hoping to find out yesterday.  I guess it's for the better anyway, because those who know me, know I am terrible with secrets :)

Note: In this photo, the little one is looking at the camera... sounds like a photographer's baby to me!

The Ghost of Michigan Central Station

Built in 1912 and closed in 1988, Michigan Central Station was the tallest rail station in the world when it was built.  Many discussions of renovations have been approved over the last year, however, nothing has been followed through yet.

We Own the Sky

Last night we went to see the French ambient pop group, M83 at The Majestic in Detroit.  It was an incredibly energetic show with no lulls to even take a bathroom break.  The room exploded with sounds of rock mixed with synthesizers and left everyone wanting more.
If you don't know about them, definitely check them out!

To a Very Special Lady - Throwback Day

To the coolest lady I've ever known, Happy birthday to my Grandma.  Today would have been her 91st birthday.

Paint it Black

Yesterday, Brandon spent the majority of his day and night prepping and painting the nursery.  Neither one of us are into super girly or super boyish nurseries ie. butterflies and dump trucks, so we went (against our mother's wishes) with a non-traditional approach to our nursery.  Our take on the modern nursery is classic black and white stripes with brightly colored accents.

Look who discovered the bed

And not only the bed, but Rachael's maternity pillow as well.
Not quite sure how this little guy is able to jump up on our bed (the top of our mattress is almost up to my chest), but last night he attempted it with success.

The sun is up...

The sky is blue...
It's beautiful...
And so are you...
