Ode to Detroit, Part 1

Saturday morning we went to Belle Isle for a change of scenery.  I was totally expecting it to be completely creepy and deserted - maybe because of what you hear on the news in Detroit.  There were actually a lot of people there running, bike riding, and families visiting the free Observatory and Nature Zoo.  Belle Isle is only slightly broken, but to me it symbolizes the city itself.  No matter what is thrown at it; it will always stand.
Our trip that day was so inspiring that I've broken this up into four parts.  Check back in a few days for the next installment.

PS: Thanks to those of you who voted for the sewer cover on The Free Press' Detroit Self Portrait.  It's currently #33 out of over 1,000 photographs!   http://www.freep.com/portrait/?d=view&id=1068
